Sport Psychology

Dr. Lager has over 15 years of experience helping athletes and performers reach their highest potential. Her ability to assist athletes comes both from her years of training and practice as a Psychologist as well as the knowledge and insights she gained while competing at the national level in springboard diving in high school and college. Previous customers have included athletes at the professional, Olympic, and amateur levels in sports including golf, baseball, cycling, basketball, triathlons, tennis, swimming, gymnastics, soccer, and figure skating. Dr. Lager works with teams, individuals, coaches, and family members of athletes, and tailors her interventions to the specific needs of the individual or group.

By combining her background in Clinical Psychology with the latest techniques and research in performance enhancement, Dr. Lager is able to help athletes and performers better understand how their thoughts and feelings affect them physically. This understanding allows individuals to develop a stronger ability to integrate their psychological and physical worlds for optimal performance. These benefits are seen in sport performance, enjoyment of sport, and in success and satisfaction in the “game of life” as well.

Dr. Lager believes that in order to gain better confidence and focus, athletes and performers must develop greater insight into themselves, and be more able to regulate thoughts and feelings. Through this process, they are more able to reach their full potential as athletes and as human beings.
